FAQs

Do you take insurance?

I am currently in network with Duke Student Insurance ($25 co-pay) and Blue Cross and Blue Shield (except for the Blue Value and Blue Local panels) and out of network with other insurance panels. You are responsible for contacting your insurance company prior to the first visit to verify your mental health benefits.

Questions that I suggest asking include:

  • Do my insurance benefits include mental health services?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • Will I be required to pay a co-pay?
  • Is there a limit to the number of sessions per year my plan covers?
  • What is my deductible?
  • Do I need to get approval from my primary care physician?

If I do not accept your insurance, my services are reimbursable with your insurance company as an out of network provider (reimbursement can be from 70-80% of my fee depending on your benefits and takes 2-6 weeks to receive a check). I am happy to provide you with a receipt to file with your insurance company. Please contact your insurance company to find out out how to complete the filing process.

How much does it cost?

Initial Assessment 90791 (60 minutes) $165
Follow Up Appointment 90837 (55 minutes) $155
Follow Up Appointment 90834 (45 minutes) $135
Accessibility to therapy is important. I do offer sliding scale options when I am able. Payment is accepted in the form of cash, check, health savings account card, or credit card at the beginning of the session.

Is everything we discuss confidential?

Yes, although there are some exceptions to this rule per North Carolina law. These exceptions include if you are an immediate harm to yourself or others, current child abuse or neglect, or elder abuse. Other than those exceptions, your sessions and everything discussed will not be disclosed without your written permission.

What if my parents want to be involved?

I am happy to discuss this with you and what might be best for your individual situation. If you are 18 or older, I need your written permission to speak with your parents and cannot do so without it. I do offer family sessions or parent updates if that is what is best for you and your family but this is not required or necessary.

What if I need to cancel?

Please note that 24 hour notice is required for all cancelled appointments. If you no show or late cancel for your appointment you will be charged the late cancel fee of $75. Please note this is not billable through insurance. Contact me as soon as possible in the case of an emergency as this is taken into consideration.
